Wyoming Veteran Benefits
Veteran and military benefits available in Wyoming: property-tax exemptions, tuition waivers, license and park-fee waivers, and more — each verified from an official Wyoming source.
Veterans Property Tax Exemption
$3,000 off assessed value (or apply to vehicle fees)
Wyoming reduces the assessed value of a qualifying veteran's primary residence by $3,000 (or the exemption can be applied to vehicle licensing fees). Eligible: wartime/expeditionary-medal veterans, service-connected disabled veterans, and unremarried surviving spouses — with 3+ years of Wyoming residency.
Free Hunting & Fishing Licenses (Disabled Vets)
Free game-bird/small-game/fishing (100%); free fishing (50%)
Wyoming gives a 100% service-connected disabled resident veteran free game bird, small game, and fishing licenses; a 50% disabled resident veteran gets a free fishing license. Requires at least one year of Wyoming residency and a VBA certification letter.
Free Tuition at UW & Community Colleges
Up to 10 semesters free tuition & fees
Eligible veterans, surviving spouses, and dependents may receive up to ten semesters of free tuition and fees at the University of Wyoming and Wyoming community colleges.
Veterans' Employment Preference
5 points (10 if 10%+ disabled) for state jobs
Wyoming veterans may receive a five-point preference — or ten points for those rated 10% or more disabled from military service — when applying for state positions. Residency at both entry into service and at application is required.
