MilDeck ("we," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the MilDeck website (www.mildeck.com) and the MilDeck mobile app collect, and how it is used. In short: we do not require an account, we do not sell your data, and we collect as little as possible.

Information stored on your device

Most of what you do in MilDeck stays on your device. Preferences and content you create — such as your selected state, saved items, checklist progress, and light/dark theme — are stored locally (in your browser's local storage on the website, or on-device storage in the app). This information is not transmitted to us.

Feedback you choose to send

If you use the in-app feedback form, the message you write is sent to us so we can read and act on it. If you choose to include your email address (optional), we receive it only so we can reply to you. This is delivered securely over HTTPS through our forms provider, Formspree, which processes the message on our behalf. We use this information only to respond to your feedback — never for advertising or tracking — and you can ask us to delete it at any time (see Contact below).

Location (mobile app)

The app can ask for your location on the "nearby" map feature. If you allow it, your location is used on your device to open your phone's maps app and search for nearby places — it is not sent to MilDeck's servers and is not stored by us. You can decline the permission and still use the rest of the app; declining simply means the map opens a general search instead of one centered on you.

Notifications (mobile app)

If you opt in to notifications, the app schedules occasional reminders (for example, about military appreciation days or annual pay changes) locally on your device. These are generated on your device and do not collect any information about you.

Military status verification (optional)

On our website you can optionally verify your military affiliation through ID.me, a third-party identity-verification provider. This is entirely optional — the site is fully usable without it. If you choose to verify, you are taken to ID.me to sign in; ID.me handles your identity documents and account, and we never see or store them. We receive only a confirmation of your affiliation, and we store only a small signed marker on your device (a cookie) indicating that you are verified — no name, email, or ID.me account details. You can remove it at any time by logging out. Your use of ID.me is governed by ID.me's own privacy policy.

Email newsletter (optional)

If you choose to subscribe to our email digest, we collect your email address to send you the newsletter. We use Buttondown, a privacy-focused email provider, to manage the list and send messages on our behalf. Signing up is double opt-in (you confirm by email), we never sell or share your address, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to remove your address at any time at mildecksupport@gmail.com.

Advertising and analytics

MilDeck does not display third-party advertising and does not use advertising cookies. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

To understand which pages are useful, our website uses Vercel Web Analytics — a privacy-friendly service that counts aggregate page views without cookies and without collecting personal information or building a profile of you. The MilDeck mobile app does not include any analytics.

MilDeck links to official government and retailer websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites — review their policies when you visit them.

Children

MilDeck is intended for a general audience of teens and adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Data security & deletion

Any feedback you send is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS. To request that we delete feedback you have sent us, email mildecksupport@gmail.com and we will remove it from our records.
