Georgia gives a large homestead property tax exemption to qualifying disabled veterans — up to $121,812 of assessed value (2025 amount; adjusted over time). The exemption passes to an unremarried surviving spouse or minor children who keep living in the home.

Free honorary hunting & fishing license for 100% disabled vets
Georgia veterans with a permanent and total (100%) VA disability rating are eligible for free honorary hunting and fishing licenses. Veterans disabled due to mental impairment are eligible for the free honorary fishing license.
State Parks 25% Discount
25% off entrance to state parks & historic sites
Georgia veterans with an honorable discharge and a VA service-connected disability rating get a 25% reduction on the entrance fee to state parks, historic sites, and recreational areas via a GDVS-issued discount card.
State Employment Preference
5 points (10 if disabled) on state hiring
War-era veterans receive 5 preference points for State of Georgia jobs; veterans with a VA service-connected disability of 10% or more (or veterans 55+ entitled to a disability pension) receive 10 points.
