Minnesota excludes part of a disabled veteran's home market value from property tax: a 70%+ service-connected rating excludes $150,000; a 100% permanent & total rating excludes $300,000. Surviving spouses and certain primary caregivers may also qualify.

Surviving Spouse & Dependent Education Benefit

Free tuition + $750/yr for books & fees

Minnesota lets surviving spouses and children of veterans who died in service (or from a service-connected cause) attend a public Minnesota college or university free of tuition until they earn a bachelor's degree, plus $750 per year toward fees, books, supplies, or room and board.

Free State Park Vehicle Permit

Free annual state park vehicle permit

Minnesota gives a free annual state park vehicle permit to veterans with any level of service-connected disability, on presentation of an annual VA award letter or other proof of eligibility.

Free Angling & Deer License (100% Disabled Vets)

Permanent free fishing license; free deer license

Minnesota issues a permanent (lifetime) angling license to residents 16+ who are veterans with a 100% service-connected disability, and lets 100% service-connected disabled veterans take deer by firearm or archery without a license fee.
