Maine Veteran Benefits
Veteran and military benefits available in Maine: property-tax exemptions, tuition waivers, license and park-fee waivers, and more — each verified from an official Maine source.
$6,000 Veterans Property Tax Exemption
$6,000 off your home's just value
Maine exempts $6,000 of a home's just value for a veteran who served during a recognized war period and is 62 or older, or who is receiving (or became) 100% disabled from service. Surviving spouses may also qualify.
Veterans Dependents Tuition Waiver
100% of tuition & mandatory fees waived for dependents
Maine waives 100% of tuition and all mandatory fees at Maine public colleges/universities for spouses and dependents of veterans with a 100% total permanent service-connected disability (and other qualifying categories).
Complimentary Lifetime Hunting & Fishing License
Free lifetime license bundling nearly every privilege
A Maine disabled veteran with a 50%+ service-connected disability can get a complimentary license to fish, hunt, and trap — including archery, muzzleloader, bear, migratory bird, pheasant, turkey, crossbow, and expanded-archery permits. It's valid for life while residency is maintained, with no need to buy the add-on permits each year.
State Park & Museum Pass
State park and museum passes for veterans
Maine provides state park and museum passes to eligible veterans as part of its state veteran benefits.
