Disability Homestead Exemption
~$49,100 off your home's assessed value
Kentucky's homestead exemption for totally disabled homeowners — which includes veterans rated 100% service-connected disabled — reduces the home's assessed value by the state exemption amount (about $49,100 for 2025–2026; adjusted every two years).
Kentucky Veterans Tuition Waiver
Free tuition for dependents of 100% disabled/deceased vets
Kentucky waives tuition for children, stepchildren, spouses, and unremarried surviving spouses of veterans who are 100% disabled, killed in action, or who died from a service-connected cause, at Kentucky public two-year, four-year, and vocational-technical schools. Covers tuition only (not room/board, books, or fees).
Disabled Veteran Hunting & Fishing License
Special reduced/annual license for disabled veterans
Kentucky authorizes a special hunting and fishing license for resident veterans with a service-connected disability greater than 50%.
Veterans' Hiring Preference
Guaranteed interview (small pools)
Kentucky honorably discharged veterans receive a guaranteed interview for a state job when there are five or fewer applicants claiming veterans' preference.
Disabled Veteran License Plate
DV plate at 50%+; free at 100% SC
Kentucky disabled veterans rated 50% or higher qualify for a Disabled Veteran license plate; for veterans rated 100% service-connected, the plate and all renewals are free.
