Dependents Educational Assistance (DEA, Chapter 35)
Education benefits for spouses and children of permanently/totally disabled or deceased veterans.
Who qualifies: Veterans with a service-connected disability, Survivors & family members.
DEA provides education and training to eligible dependents of veterans:
• Monthly payment for full-time school, training, or apprenticeship
• Up to 45 months of benefits
• Covers college, vocational/technical, on-the-job training, correspondence
Eligible dependents of:
• Veterans with a permanent and total (P&T) service-connected disability
• Veterans who died in service or from service-connected conditions
• Veterans who are/were missing in action or prisoners of war
Spouses: benefits available between ages 18—57. Children: ages 18—26.
