National Guard Supplemental Grant + dependent tuition/fee exemptions

Indiana State University (ISU) is a longstanding military-friendly school offering several stacked benefits. Indiana Army and Air National Guard members may qualify for the Indiana National Guard Supplemental Grant, which pays tuition in addition to federal VA benefits. ISU is a Yellow Ribbon school and accepts Post-9/11 GI Bill, Tuition Assistance, and processes all VA education certifications through its Veterans Affairs Resource Center.

Children and spouses of Purple Heart recipients or disabled Indiana veterans may qualify for state tuition and fee exemptions (up to 124 credit hours) under Indiana DVA rules. Graduate program applicants who are veterans receive an application fee waiver.

ISU offers both on-campus and online degrees and awards credit for military training via the Joint Services Transcript.

How to redeem

  • Contact ISU's Veterans Affairs Resource Center at 1-888-442-4551 or visit indianastate.edu/admissions/veterans.
  • Indiana Guard members: apply for the National Guard Supplemental Grant through the Indiana DVA / your unit education office.
  • Submit your Joint Services Transcript and VA education paperwork through ISU's Registrar/VA certifying official.
  • Dependents of Purple Heart/disabled Indiana veterans: apply for the state tuition & fee exemption (verify Indiana residency rules).

Tips

  • The Indiana National Guard Supplemental Grant stacks on top of federal VA benefits — together they can cover full tuition.
  • Veterans applying to ISU graduate programs get the application fee waived — ask the admissions office.
  • State exemptions for dependents require Indiana home-of-record or residency — confirm eligibility with the Indiana DVA before enrolling.
