VALife — Veterans Affairs Life Insurance

Guaranteed-acceptance whole life insurance — up to $40,000 — for any veteran with a service-connected disability rating (even 0%). No health questions. Replaced S-DVI.

Who qualifies: Veterans, Veterans with a service-connected disability, Active duty.

**What It Is**
VA Life Insurance (VALife) is guaranteed-acceptance whole life insurance for veterans with a service-connected disability. Launched January 1, 2023, it replaced Service-Disabled Veterans Insurance (S-DVI), which is now closed to new applicants. There are no health questions — if you're eligible, you're approved.

**How Much**
• Up to $40,000 in whole life coverage, in $10,000 increments
• Premiums are fixed for life once locked in and never increase
• Cash value begins to build after the first 2 years
• Premiums range from about $10.90/month (age 18, $10k) upward with age and coverage

**The 2-Year Waiting Period**
Full coverage begins 2 years after approval. If the insured dies during the waiting period, beneficiaries receive the total premiums paid plus interest. Premiums must be kept current throughout.

**Who Qualifies**
Any veteran with a service-connected rating of 0% or more, age 80 or younger (with a narrow exception for those 81+). There is no time limit to apply after receiving your rating.

**How to Apply**
Apply online at insurance.va.gov. Coverage is guaranteed acceptance — submit your first premium payment with the application.
