S-DVI — Service-Disabled Veterans Insurance

CLOSED to new enrollment — replaced by VALife. Existing S-DVI policies continue; new applicants should use VALife instead.

Who qualifies: Veterans with a service-connected disability.

**Important: S-DVI is closed to new applicants.** As of January 1, 2023, the VA replaced S-DVI with VA Life Insurance (VALife). Veterans who already hold an S-DVI policy can keep it, but new coverage is no longer issued under S-DVI — apply for VALife instead.

If you apply for VALife on or after January 1, 2026, your S-DVI coverage (including policies with premium waivers) ends the day your VALife is approved. Veterans who applied for VALife by December 31, 2025 could keep S-DVI during VALife's 2-year waiting period.

What S-DVI provided (for reference, existing policyholders):
• Up to $10,000 in coverage (also called "RH Insurance")
• Supplemental policy up to $30,000 if totally disabled (premiums waived)
• Lower rates than the private market for service-connected conditions
