Who qualifies: Veterans with a service-connected disability.
Veterans Mortgage Life Insurance (VMLI) provides mortgage protection insurance to veterans with severe service-connected disabilities who have been approved for a Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) or Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grant.
• Maximum coverage: $200,000
• Pays off the mortgage balance if the veteran dies
• Premiums based on age, mortgage balance, and remaining mortgage term
• Apply through VA within 2 years of receiving the housing grant
