VA Dental Insurance Program (VADIP)

Discounted private dental insurance (Delta Dental or MetLife) for veterans enrolled in VA health care and for CHAMPVA beneficiaries — regardless of disability rating.

Who qualifies: Veterans, Veterans with a service-connected disability.

**What It Is**
Most VA dental care is “class-based,” so only about a quarter of enrolled veterans qualify for free VA dental. VADIP gives everyone else an option: **discounted private dental insurance** through **Delta Dental** or **MetLife**.

**Who Can Enroll**
• Any veteran **enrolled in VA health care**, and
• **CHAMPVA** beneficiaries — regardless of your disability rating.

**Cost & Coverage**
• Premiums typically run about **$10–$60 per month** depending on the plan and where you live.
• Plans cover preventive care (cleanings, exams — often right away), plus basic and major work (major work often has a waiting period).

**How to Enroll**
Compare plans and sign up directly through the VADIP providers (Delta Dental / MetLife). Confirm your VA health-care enrollment or CHAMPVA eligibility first.

**Tip**
If you’re rated 100% permanently & totally disabled, receive TDIU, or have a service-connected dental condition, you likely qualify for **free** VA dental — check that before paying for VADIP.
