Individual Unemployability (TDIU)

Paid at the 100% rate even if your VA rating is below 100%, if you cannot work due to service-connected disabilities.

Who qualifies: Veterans, Veterans with a service-connected disability.

Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU) allows veterans to be compensated at the 100% rate ($3,938.58/month in 2026) when they cannot maintain substantially gainful employment due to service-connected disabilities.

Eligibility generally requires:
• One disability rated at 60%+, OR
• Two or more disabilities with at least one at 40%+ and combined rating of 70%+

This is one of the most valuable and underutilized VA benefits.
