Family Separation Allowance (FSA)
$300/month when separated from dependents for 30+ consecutive days due to orders (increased from $250 on Jan 1, 2026).
Who qualifies: Active duty, National Guard.
FSA is paid to service members who are separated from their dependents for more than 30 consecutive days due to military orders.
• $300/month flat rate (increased from $250 effective January 1, 2026 — the first increase in over 20 years), prorated at $10/day for partial months
• Taxable income — except when earned in a designated combat zone (CZTE), where it is tax-free
• Available to Guard/Reserve members on qualifying active duty orders
• Applies when separated due to deployment, ship duty, or remote assignments
