College Loan Repayment Program (CLRP)

Military pays off up to $65,000 of your federal student loans as an enlistment incentive.

Who qualifies: Active duty, National Guard.

The College Loan Repayment Program is an enlistment incentive that pays federal student loans:

Army CLRP:
• Up to $65,000 for active duty Army
• Up to $20,000 for Army National Guard
• Pays 33.33% or $1,500 (whichever is greater) of outstanding principal per year

Navy LRP:
• Up to $65,000 for eligible ratings
• Paid over first 3 years of active service

Other Branches:
• Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard have similar programs for qualifying MOS/rating/AFSC
• Amount varies by branch and job code

Important:
• Must be negotiated at time of enlistment – cannot be added later
• Only covers federal student loans (not private)
• Must remain in qualifying program/MOS
• Subject to income tax in the year payment is received
