Frequently asked questions

What is the 2026 TSP contribution limit?

The 2026 elective-deferral limit is $24,500, or $32,500 with the age-50 catch-up, and $35,750 for ages 60–63. BRS automatic and matching contributions are separate and don’t count against it.

Can I lose my TSP match by front-loading?

Yes. The BRS matches up to 5% of basic pay each month you contribute. If you hit the annual limit early and stop, you lose the match in the remaining months — so spread contributions across the whole year.
