Frequently asked questions
How many points make a good year for retirement?
You need at least 50 retirement points in a year for it to count as a qualifying (“good”) year, and generally 20 good years to earn a reserve retirement.
When does reserve retirement pay start?
Reserve retired pay normally begins at age 60. Qualifying active-duty mobilizations can lower that age by three months per 90 days served, down to a floor of 50.
